Did the Myanmar Government really take Burma / Myanmar off Line? If this is really true, I consider it to be a very serious attack on the life and liberty of the people of Burma / Myanmar, and an act of paranoid isolationism of the worst kind.
I just found this in a past InfoWorld newsletter which I am subscribed to... (I'm a few months behind  )
I heard a rumor of this around the time but did not know that it was
actually possible or true.... Sure they could take control of data
centers within the country and block access to all .mm TLDs in the
routing tables located in those data centers within the country... but
could they shut off access to the outside world from individual PCs?
To do that they would have to shut down cable and Telephone Service
entirely... If they do that... for sure the country is in DEEP DANGER
and needs outside help!!! Could it get to that point? Read the article...

IMHO This act to shut down communication channels all by itself is
enough to warrant the MM government guilty of HIGH CRIMES against
humanity. Freedom of Speech and Freedom of access to information is the
most important component of liberty!
We desperately need satellite modems to become a household commodity throughout
the world so that access to the world wide web cannot be easily tampered with
on any local level... Of course that would not prevent RF Jamming... but if a country shuts down all communication channels its not going to work for anyone, even the government... right?
I am all in favor of doing what ever possible to complete the transformation of this planet into
the Information Age, The Age of truth, The Age of Knowledge, and eventually the Age of Wisdom... where access to ALL Information is ubiquitous and FREE to ALL, where it will be subject to global review and revision by anyone on a constant basis. The wiki revolution is on, lets keep that a priority...
