This is a sample blog format article... And discusses my personal best practice method of using Joomla! out of box to create a nice blog like section...

When editing articles for Joomla, you will see two different content editor boxes, (one above the other) with the editing tool bars over each box.

The first content box always displays even when the article is in a list of titles of other articles.  For this reason its wise to keep the content in the first box as short as possible.

Best practice for blog style display in Joomla! dictates keeping content in the first box one sentence or less and format it as a simple paragraph.  (no headings or bold type) think of it as a short tag line that further describes the title of the article.

The second content box is where you write the meat of your article, and do what ever formatting that best suits the article.  These words here comprise the meat of this article and were all typed into the second content box..  Only the first sentence of this blog entry was typed into the first box...

When you navigate to a blog using sections and category navigation you will appreciate the short intro text which allows you to see many blog entries on one page:  (Title, Tag Line, and Read More link).

On the left hand navigation panel you will see the heading: cat tree which is a play on words for: Categorized Tree Navigation but could also invoke the image of a cat stuck in a tree Tongue out This kind of navigation is handy for blog like systems.  I used a Joomla! module called: mod_sectionnav to implement this and it makes the job of writing articles very simple because it creates the menu for you automatically when you create a new article or blog entry.
